Written by Wisconsin Independant PC Tech on January 12, 2012 from north freedom, wisconsin, US I have recently observed practices by frontier where they are sending out notices with billing that the modem is out of warranty and must be replaced or "risk service outage" When people replace the modem (ie. alter their old Verizon contracts)they are now charged a 6.99/mo modem fee (forever). In addition, I have noticed that people who do not respond will have their modem configuration "mysteriously changed" so that it does not work, spawning a call to Frontier for service. They tell the consumer they need a new modem and then charge the 6.99/mo. I truly believe they are logging into peoples modems and intentionally taking them down to replace them. I have already reconfigured several and have gotten them back online in 5 minutes. This practice must be illegal. I know it is immoral and manipulative. |
